History

Busoga Diocese was curved from Namirembe Diocese in 1972. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Cyprian K. Bamwoze was the 1st Bishop.  The Rt. Rev. Timothy T. Nabeeta was Assistant Bishop.  Bishop Cyprian Bamwoze was in office for 26 years as Bishop of Busoga Diocese from 1972 – 1998 The Rt. Rev. Dr. Michael A.S. Kyomya was consecrated and enthroned as 2nd Bishop on 23 January 2000 at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe. Bishop Michael Kyomya was in office for 16 years as Bishop of Busoga Diocese.

The Rt. Rev. Paul Moses Samson Naimanhye was consecrated and enthroned as 3rd Bishop on 24 January 2016 at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe. Bishop Paul M.S. Naimanhye is the Diocesan Bishop of Busoga Diocese who has spearheaded the birth of Central Busoga Diocese to be curved from Busoga Diocese on 13 November 2016. Bishop Paul Naimanhye is having a tight schedule since entering office. The whole year 2016 Bishop was working around the clock for the creation and developments of Central Busoga Diocese and the election, consecration and enthronement of Bishop of Central Busoga Diocese.

This year 2017, Bishop Paul has put much effort in conducting Lay-readers’ Retreats in various Archdeaconries across the Diocese. The Bishop also this year round has done pastoral visits in Churches and schools. Many people are giving their lives to Christ.
